Feb 22, 2025 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The No. 22 Memphis Tigers gear up for an American Athletic Conference showdown with Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon inside FedExForum. Game time is set for 1 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN2.
The Tigers are looking to get back on track after dropping an 84-79 overtime loss at Wichita State last Sunday afternoon that brought an end to their 8-game win streak. Tyrese Hunter scored a game-high 24 points with six rebounds, while big man Moussa Cisse came off the bench to drop a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the result, with five games remaining in the regular season, Memphis remains in first place in the American Athletic Conference with an 11-2 league record. The Tigers are one game up on North Texas and UAB and currently own the tiebreaker with both.
Sunday is a fan appreciation day with several in-game presentations, including the 2024 M Club Hall of Fame Class being honored at halftime. Tiger legend Chris Douglas-Roberts is a part of the class and in honor of him being back in the building, fans can take advantage of throwback ticket prices to CDR's playing days in 2007-08 by clicking HERE.
Sunday's meeting will be just the sixth all-time between the schools with Memphis leading 3-2. The Tigers opened conference play with a 90-62 road victory at FAU on January 2, their largest victory in a league opener since 2008.
Memphis defeated the Owls, 78-74, last season in their first-ever visit to FedExForum.
Florida Atlantic is coming off a 75-68 loss at home to Wichita State on Thursday, dropping the Owls to 15-11 overall and 8-5 in league play. The loss halted a five-game win streak for FAU, who sits fifth place in the AAC standings.
They are the only team in the conference with three 20+ point margins of victory in league play.
