Tigers Upset Charlotte to Move on to American Athletic Conference Championship Semi-Finals

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team pulled off the first upset of the American Athletic Conference Championship when it upset 3rd-seeded Charlotte in a 4-2 decision.
The Tigers took the doubles point after Sofia Mykhailets/Alyssa Richter and Leonie Moeller/Emily Meyer both snatched 7-5 victories to take an early 1-0 lead in the match.
Charlotte came back in singles, collecting wins on courts three and six off the bat. Mykhailets and Alice Amendola locked in victories on their respective courts before Moeller drove home the win with a 7-6, 6-2 win on court one to send the Tigers to a semi-final match.
This will be the fourth consecutive trip to the AAC Championship semi-finals for the Tigers.
Memphis will play tomorrow afternoon against No. 2 Rice at Leftwich Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
