Tigers Hit the Road for Starkville for Matchup vs. Mississippi State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team hits the road Tuesday for a matchup vs. Mississippi State on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Dudy Noble Field.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Jeff Brightwell will be on the call via audio stream at GoTigersGo.com and The Varsity Network powered by Learfield.
Dudy Noble Field will play host to the 52nd all-time meeting between the two programs. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 38-13 and has won four-straight matchups over the Tigers.
Memphis (16-27, 4-14 AAC) dropped three games at AAC-leader UTSA over the weekend, falling 6-5 in 11 innings in Sunday's finale.
Mississippi State (25-19, 7-14 SEC) will enter the matchup after dropping an SEC series at No. 11 Auburn over the weekend, two games to one. The Bulldogs announced a head-coaching change on Tuesday, relieving head coach Chris Lemonis of his duties. Assistant coach Justin Parker will serve as the head coach for the remainder of the season and make his debut vs. Memphis Tuesday night.
RHP Caden Robinson (1-2, 6.12 ERA) will get the start on the mound for the Tigers. The Bulldogs will counter with RHP Noah Sullivan (0-0, 2.35 ERA) for his seventh start of the season. Sullivan also serves as a key piece in the Mississippi State lineup, hitting .340 on the season with 11 home runs and 34 RBI.
Tiger catcher Jonah Sutton made his return to the Tiger lineup over the weekend after a 10-game absence. He ranks No. 8 nationally in runners thrown out from behind the plate (16) and is now 16-of-34 (47%) from behind the dish. As a team, Memphis has thrown out 40 percent of runners stealing on the season (21-of-53) as Justin Fogel is 4-for-16 on the year and freshman Jack Pitts is 1-for-3.
After ranking 12th nationally with 54 double plays turned a season ago, the Tigers have turned 42 through 43 games to lead The American and rank No. 4 nationally in that category. Memphis trails national leaders New Mexico State and UCLA (48) by six.
