Memphis Volleyball Heads to Alabama for Crimson Classic

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis volleyball travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Crimson Classic Sept. 18-19. The Tigers open the classic against host Alabama on Thursday at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+ before closing the weekend against UCF Friday at 4 p.m.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis (7-3) is coming off a three-set loss at Ole Miss on Tuesday. Amanda Hardt led the Tigers with 14 kills and 14.5 points, while Zaniah Hoskins and Janyah Henderson combined for 14 kills, six digs and 15.5 points. Setter Maddy Bach dished out 28 assists, and Brianna Washington added three blocks on defense.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON TIDE AND KNIGHTS
Alabama (7-1) enters the weekend after winning both matches at the UNA Volleyball Classic, defeating Western Carolina in four sets and sweeping North Alabama. Victoria Barrett paced the Tide with 24 kills, 19 digs and 36.5 points, while Maddie Snider added 25 kills, 10 digs and 27 points.
UCF (7-3) comes off a loss to No. 21 Baylor in its Big 12 opener. Bailey Warren led the Knights with 12 kills, 10 digs and 13 points. Harley Kreck tallied 26 assists, while Gabrielle Essix anchored the defense with seven blocks.
Both Alabama and UCF share a common opponent with Memphis in Chattanooga. UCF opened the season with a four-set win over the Mocs, while Alabama swept them to start the Chattanooga Classic earlier this month.
SERIES BETWEEN THE CRIMSON TIDE AND KNIGHTS
This will be the sixth all-time meeting between Memphis and Alabama, with the Crimson Tide holding a 3-2 edge after winning the most recent matchup in 2014. The Tigers face UCF for the 38th time, with the Knights winning the last 10 meetings dating back to 2016.
