Tigers Drop Five-Set Heartbreaker to Tulane

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis volleyball team (6-9, 1-3 American) fell to Tulane (11-2, 3-0 American) in five-sets inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening set, both teams battled point-for-point before Memphis used a 3-0 run to take a one-point lead. Tulane answered with a 6-0 burst to take an 11-7 advantage. Riley Tucker fueled another 4-0 surge for the Green Wave to extend the lead to 15-8. Despite late kills from Amanda Hardt and Caitlyn Little, Tulane secured the opening set, 25-17.
Memphis responded strongly in the second set, sparking a 15-6 run to take control early. After Tulane pulled points back via an attack error and a kill from Avery Burks, the Tigers took advantage of another Green Wave error to trigger a 4-0 run. Tulane tried to rally with back-to-back runs, but Memphis capitalized on key errors to claim the set, 25-18.
The teams traded points early in the third set before Tulane gained momentum with a 3-0 run. Memphis countered as Paige Mock recorded a kill to start a 3-0 surge, giving the Tigers a 15-12 lead. Memphis extended its cushion to 20-15 following a 4-0 run. Tulane's Lauryn Mack delivered a kill to spark a 4-0 run of her own, cutting the deficit to one. In extra points, a kill from Hardt followed by a Tulane attack error handed Memphis a 26-24 set win.

- Caitlyn Little led the Tigers offensively with 19 kills and 19.5 points.
- Amanda Hardt and Arianna Mongare followed with 13 and 10 kills respectively.
- Sydney Marshall dished out 50 assists during the contest.
- Marshall has put up 50 plus assists for the second time this season.
- The junior has also recorded her fifth double-double this season.
- Marshall and Abigail Schlueter put up a team-high of 15 digs during the match.
- Paige Mock led the team in blocks with six.
