Men’s Soccer To Face UCA At Home Wednesday

The final non-conference match of the season will be played at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team welcomes the University of Central Arkansas on Wednesday evening. The match against the Bears is the last non-conference bout of the year for Memphis and kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

The Tigers are looking to rebound from the double-overtime loss against No. 17 SMU this past weekend. The result drops Memphis to 2-7-3 on the year and 1-2-1 in American Athletic Conference play. Six different Tigers took shots during the match, including four who had shots on goal. Goalkeeper Jake Leeker finished the match with two saves.
Head coach Richard Mulrooney leads his squad that has three of their last four matches at home including two matches this week against UCA and USF. The last road trip will be to UConn, where the team will take on the Huskies in Storrs, Conn. on Oct. 28. Memphis will then conclude the home schedule on Nov. 4 with a conference match against Tulsa.
Memphis holds an 11-2 all-time record against the Bears with the most recent match coming in 2016. The only setback at home to the Bears was in 1999.
A Look at UCA
Central Arkansas heads to Memphis after defeating Missouri Valley Conference foe Bradley. The victory improved UCA's record to 6-7-1, including 4-1-0 in conference play. Two Bears scored in the match against Bradley, with Nate Lancaster scoring his first goal of the season. Goalkeeper Marc Olsen finished the contest with three saves in the shutout effort.
Now in his fifth season as head coach, Ross Duncan leads a team that has largely struggled with out of conference opponents. The Bears are currently 2-6 in non-conference matchups.
The Bears' leading scorer in 2017 is Niklas Brodacki, who has nine goals on the year. Olsen has led the team in goal with 11 starts, recording 42 saves and three shutouts.
