Men’s Soccer Takes On UCF Saturday

Tigers look to rebound after double-overtime setback to Temple last weekend
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's soccer team hits the road once again, this time to Orlando, Fla. to face the Knights of UCF on Saturday evening. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 6:00 p.m. CT at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.
MATCH INFORMATION:
Memphis looks to bounce back from a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Temple last weekend. Sophomore Ben Roberts scored his team-leading second goal of the year with nine seconds left in regulation to force overtime. After a scoreless first overtime, the Owls capitalized in the 103rd minute of the match to go on to victory.
The loss drops the Tigers to 2-5-2 on the season, including a 1-1-0 record in the American Athletic Conference. Goalkeeper Jake Leeker finished the game with three saves.
Along with Roberts, David Zalzman, Luke Biasi, Chris Mikus, Jackson Morse, and Charles Blankenship have scored for the Tigers. Leeker has played in every minute in goal for the Tigers and owns a 1.36 goals against average and .735 save percentage.
A Look at UCF
UCF welcomes Memphis after defeating Stetson 4-0 on Wednesday, improving to 2-5-1 on the season. Three different Knights were able to find the net against a Stetson squad that now sits 5-5-0. Senior forward Matias Pyysalo scored his team-leading sixth goal for UCF against Stetson.
First year head coach Scott Calabrese leads his team as they resume AAC play against the Tigers. UCF enters Saturday's match 0-2-0 in its conference slate. The Knights are backed by a pair of goalkeepers, Yannik Oettl and Matt Rosenberg, which have allowed nine total goals so far in 2017.
