Tigers, Shockers clash in a 1 p.m. (CT) Wednesday matinee.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Senior Day always is full of emotions, and that's what the University of Memphis volleyball team faces Wednesday when it hosts nationally-ranked Wichita State.

The Tigers play at 1 p.m. (CT) Wednesday, and the Senior Day celebration is scheduled prior to the start of the match. The Memphis senior quartet of Regan Comperry, Kiyla Glasper, Faith Myers and Kendall Seering will be honored.

Following Wednesday's home match, the Tigers and Shockers play again Friday in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Head coach April Jauregui comments
"You blink and the season is over. But, as you're going through it, the season can get lengthy with all the travel. I'm excited to get the chance to play Wichita State. Right now, they are ranked in the top-20, and to have the opportunity to play them will be a lot of fun. We get to play them here on our Senior Day, and then we go there where they play in front of huge crowds. To wrap up a season in that type of environment is a great opportunity for our players."

"It's bittersweet to see them go because you're excited for them to take that next step in life. I believe all four of our seniors will be successful. They are very bright, committed, talented young women, and to see where they have come from, that's the part I enjoy about coaching. Working with these young ladies and seeing them leave the University of Memphis with their diplomas and ready to take on the world is a great feeling. I'm very proud of the seniors, and they work they've put in. They never stopped working, never stopped pushing, and never stopped leading this team."

Tigers Tidbits

Memphis and Wichita State play on each other's homecourt for the first time in both programs' histories. The previous two match-ups took place at neutral sites. The last time the two programs met was in the 1988 season.
On Friday, the Tigers will make their first trip to the state of Kansas in program history. Memphis has played all three NCAA Division I volleyball programs in the state of Kansas (Kansas, Kansas State, Wichita State). The Tigers have played the three programs a total of five times (1-4 record), but the previous five meetings took place at neutral sites.
This week's two matches feature two of the American Athletic Conference's top blockers in Memphis' Brianna Kadiku and Wichita State's Abbie Lehman. Kadiku is third in the league in total blocks with 129, and Lehman tops the conference with 134 total blocks.
Head coach April Jauregui says that as a season wraps up another one begins. But, as the Tigers turn the page to 2018, they will do so without its top two setters in Regan Comperry and Faith Myers. The senior duo has combined for over 1,000 assists in 2017 and 2,500 assists for their careers.
Although this week's focus is on the seniors, the Tigers have a lot of promise returning in their attack for 2018. Memphis' top nine hitters return for 2018 and beyond. Of those nine, four are freshmen and three are sophomores. The top nine hitters have accounted for 96.7 percent of the team's kills in 2017.
