Tigers Draw With UMKC Friday Evening

David Zalzman forced overtime with a penalty kick goal in the 89th minute
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A pair of penalty kick goals, one by Memphis and one by UMKC, led to a 1-1 double-overtime tie Friday evening. Memphis moves to 0-3-2 on the year with the Missouri road trip continuing Sunday at Missouri State at 2 p.m.
"We had a game plan going in and of all of the games up to this point, we followed that game plan as close as we could," said head coach Richard Mulrooney. "We're going in the right direction."
Down 1-0 in the final minutes of regulation, junior midfielder David Zalzman connected on a penalty kick in the 89th minute to force the match into overtime. It was Zalzman's first collegiate goal.
UMKC scored as well on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute to take the lead.
Memphis finished the match with 14 shots compared to 10 by UMKC. Six of the Tiger shots were on goal compared to four by the 'Roos. Burke Fahling led the Tigers with four shots while Jake Leeker finished with three saves.
