Tigers Fall at Florida Atlantic

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Memphis Volleyball team fell to Florida Atlantic on the road Friday night in a 3-0 sweep.
The Tigers (7-8, 1-2 American Athletic Conference) fought hard but came up short against the Owls (10-5, 2-1). Clara Bednarek and Hannah Jones led the team with eight kills each, while Jasmine Tate followed with five.
Florida Atlantic took an early 8-3 lead in the opening set. Memphis fought to cut the deficit to three, but the Owls extended the lead with a run of their own, putting them ahead 16-10. The Tigers tried to make a push late in the set with back-to-back aces from Jordan Heatherly but it wasn't enough as they dropped the opening set 25-20.
Memphis found itself in a hole early in the second set, down 10-3. Florida Atlantic controlled the set, not letting the Tigers within seven points the rest of the way en route to a 25-15 win.
The third set started with back-and-forth action until Florida Atlantic used a 3-0 run to pull ahead 11-8. The Owls kept their foot on the gas, going on a 7-1 run to extend the lead, before taking the set 25-18.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will travel to Tampa to play South Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.
