Memphis Drops 3-1 Decision at South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Memphis Volleyball team fell 3-1 Sunday afternoon against South Florida in Tampa.
The Tigers (7-9, 1-3 AAC) fought hard but were unable to secure the win against the Bulls (8-7, 5-0). Hannah Jones led the team with 11 kills while Clara Bednarek recorded eight and Tiffany Snook followed with six.
South Florida took an early 11-5 lead in the opening set. Memphis slowly chipped away at the deficit, pulling to within three points, but the Bulls used a 5-1 run to extend their lead en route to a 25-18 victory in the first set.
Memphis used a 7-2 run early in the second frame, and with kills from Bednarek, Jordan Heatherly, and Jasmyn Tate, the Tigers pushed their lead to 15-9. After South Florida fought back to even the score midway through, Memphis earned six out of the last seven points to even the match.
The third set started with back-and-forth action until South Florida used a 9-1 run to pull ahead 18-11. The Bulls ended the set on a 7-2 run, ultimately winning 25-15.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 5-2 lead in the fourth frame before USF made a run to grab the advantage at 10-6. From that point on, the Bulls never looked back, grabbing a 25-18 victory to seal the win.

The Tigers will be back at home next weekend hosting Charlotte on Friday at 6 p.m. and Temple on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
