Tigers Fall to Owls on Final Regular Season Road Trip

HOUSTON, Texas. – The University of Memphis Volleyball fell 3-0 to the Rice Owls on the final regular season road match.
  
The Tigers (12-15, 6-9 AAC) came up short against the Owls (17-6, 12-2) while being led by Clara Bednarek with nine kills. Hannah Jones followed behind with eight kills.

The Tigers found themselves in a hole to start the opening set, down 9-3. Using a 6-1 run and a huge solo block by Jones, Memphis took the lead 14-13. Rice responded with a run of their own to take the lead once again. The Owls pushed through at the end to seal the deal 25-21.

Rice continued their momentum into the second set, going up 7-2. The Tigers fought back with a 4-1 run to close the gap. The Owls extended their lead, never letting the Tigers within five points. Rice dominated the set, winning 25-17.

Rice maintained the lead midway through the third set until Memphis went on a 3-0 run to even the score 17-17. The Owls responded with an 8-2 run en route to a 25-19 victory.

The Tigers will be back at the Larry O. Finch Center to play Tulsa on Sunday, Nov. 17, for their home finale. The match will be available to stream on ESPN+.
