Memphis Wins 3-1 in Contested Battle over North Texas on Senior Day

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Volleyball won a 3-1 battle over North Texas Sunday afternoon at the Larry O. Finch Center.
The Tigers (11-13, 5-7 AAC) dominated against the Mean Green (8-15, 5-7) and were led by Hannah Jones with a match-high 15 kills. Tiffany Snook and Clara Bednarek followed behind with 10, and Tabytha Toelke recorded nine kills as well.
The opening set started with back-and-forth action until the Tigers went on a 5-1 run to take the lead 17-11. Memphis extended its lead with huge kills from Jones and Jordan Heatherly, pushing through to take the set 25-16.
Once again, the set started with back-and-forth action until Memphis used a 6-0 run to go up 15-8. The Mean Green had no response for the Tigers and could not close the gap, dropping the second set 25-18.
North Texas returned with a vengeance in the third set, going on a 12-1 run to go up 15-5. The Tigers fought back with a run of their own, trying to make up the deficit. Memphis was able to even the score at 23 but unfortunately dropped the set 25-23.
The Mean Green carried their momentum into the fourth set, taking an early 10-5 lead. Memphis responded with a 3-0 run to even the score at 13. Both teams went back and forth, neither team having more than a two-point advantage. The Tigers sealed the deal winning the last three out of four points en route to a 25-20 victory.

The Tigers will be on the road next week, playing at UAB on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 pm and at UTSA on Nov. 8, at 6 pm. Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
