Tigers Set for Super Sunday Showdown Against Charlotte
Feb 07, 2026 | Men's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis returns to FedExForum on Super Bowl Sunday with a chance to keep its momentum rolling and make up ground in the American Conference race.
The Tigers (11-11, 6-4 American) host Charlotte at 1 p.m. on ESPN+ in a matchup that could have major implications in the middle of the league standings. Memphis sits just behind a tightly packed group near the top of the conference, while the 49ers (13-10, 7-3) enter the weekend tied for second in the league table.
Memphis is coming off one of its most encouraging performances of the season, a 90-80 road win at UAB on Thursday. The Tigers shot better than 52 percent from the field and held the Blazers under 38 percent shooting, a formula they'll look to carry back home.
Sincere Parker headlines the Tigers after a historic outing in Birmingham. The senior guard exploded for a career-high 40 points in just 26 minutes, shooting 14-of-20 from the field, 6-of-8 from three-point range and 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Parker is now averaging 11.3 points per game on 46.8 percent shooting and has topped the 20-point mark in three of his last five appearances.
Point guard Dug McDaniel continues to pace Memphis, leading the team with 13.5 points per game while adding 4.8 assists and a league-leading 2.2 steals per contest. He's one of the conference's most disruptive defenders and the engine behind the Tigers' up-tempo style.
In the frontcourt, Aaron Bradshaw has quietly become one of Memphis' most efficient players. The big man is shooting 55.9 percent from the field and averaging 9.2 points and 4.5 rebounds, providing an impact in the paint on both ends of the floor. Julius Thedford (7.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and Zach Davis (7.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg) give the Tigers additional physicality and rebounding on the interior.
Depth continues to be a defining trait for Memphis. Nine different players are averaging at least five points per game, and the Tigers' bench has been one of the most productive units in the conference all season. Curtis Givens III (9.1 ppg) and Ashton Hardaway (6.0 ppg) provide perimeter scoring, while Quante Berry adds 5.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in a versatile role that has seen him inserted into the starting lineup in each of the last seven games.
Charlotte arrives in Memphis as one of the conference's surprise contenders. The 49ers are 7-3 in league play and rely on a balanced attack, strong three-point shooting and a deliberate pace. Charlotte is shooting over 36 percent from beyond the arc in conference play, with multiple players capable of stretching the floor.
The contrast in styles will be one of the biggest storylines Sunday. Memphis prefers to push the tempo, force turnovers and create scoring runs in transition, while Charlotte operates at one of the slowest paces in the country and looks to control possessions through half-court execution.
